The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam's Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the National Boundary Commission, His Excellency Nguyen Minh Vu, paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)'s National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila, today, 23 January 2024.
Deputy Commandant for Administration, CG Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega, welcomed the Vietnamese delegation, including Viet Nam's Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Lai Thai Binh, and other representatives from the Viet Nam Embassy in the Philippines.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which the PCG and the Viet Nam Coast Guard (VCG) have worked on since 2018.
The MOU aims to enhance the strategic partnership and cooperation between the PCG and VCG toward promoting, preserving, and protecting their mutual interest in the Southeast Asian region.
Furthermore, the PCG provided the Vietnamese delegation with a comprehensive briefing on its current engagement and maritime security operations in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Chief of Coast Guard Staff, CG Rear Admiral Hostillo Arturo Cornelio; Acting Commander Coast Guard Public Affairs Service, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for International Affairs, CG Commodore Algier Ricafrente; and other PCG central staff were also present during the meeting.
