The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) released over a hundred newly hatched sea turtles at Taganak Island, Tawi-Tawi, on 22 January 2024.  

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Municipal of Taganak also joined the marine environmental protection initiative.

Before the said activity, DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty, Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) Commander, CG Commodore Marco Antonio Gines, and PCG Station Western Tawi-Tawi Commander, CG Lieutenant Ryan Austria, paid a courtesy call to Taganak Mayor Mohammad Faisal Jamalul Al-haj.
