The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) rescued 10 passengers of a distressed motorbanca in the vicinity waters off Barangay Agojo, Looc, Romblon, yesterday, 08 February 2024.
While underway from Looc Pier (Looc, Romblon) to Caticlan Port (Malay, Aklan), MBCA JEDIDIAH 2 broke its propeller shaft, causing it to drift.
After receiving a call regarding the incident, PCG and MDRRMO launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation.
The PCG and MDRRMO ensured the safety of all passengers, including the boat operator, while MBCA GEZEL KELVIN towed the distressed motorbanca to Looc Pier, for needed repair.
As of press time, the rescued individuals had already returned home in good physical condition.
