The Coast Guard Ecumenical Chaplain-Service Operating Unit conducted RAMADHAN GRAND IFTAR on board BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV-9702) in Port Area, Manila, yesterday, 05 April 2024.

PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, presided over the said event and expressed, β€œOur Muslim brothers and sisters in the south are the product of stereotyping, how can they be in the mainstream if you cannot trust them. Let’s have to close our eyes and open our hearts for the truth is there, and true enough they have proven their worth.”

Moreover, National Coast Watch Center (NCWC)Β  Executive Director and former PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Joel Garcia (Ret) shared a short history of how the PCG started recruiting Muslim brothers and sisters into the Coast Guard service.

According to Command Imam, CG Captain Alicman Borowa, this event is a time for unity, reflection, and community spirit as the Muslim brothers and sisters come together to break the fast during the Holy Month of RAMADHAN. This celebration is a testament to diversity and harmonic inclusivity in the organization.
