Following a report from the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO)-Taytay, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) supported a joint maritime law enforcement operation to seize two fishing bancas engaged in illegal fishing in the vicinity waters off Taytay, Palawan, on 14 April 2024.

FBCA Arrone and FBCA King Mart Noel were caught violating municipal ordinances and national fisheries laws by utilizing fine mesh nets.

The team arrested 16 individuals and confiscated illegal fishing items including fine mesh nets, rolls of rope, and gas tanks which will serve as pieces of evidence.

The Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) said the perpetrators were handed over to MAO-Taytay for filing of appropriate charges and further proceedings in an effort to combat illegal fishing and protect marine biodiversity in Palawan.
