Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, has thanked the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) for providing four USCG instructors who facilitate the two-week Advanced Incident Command System (ICS) Course for 16 PCG officers at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
The USCG instructors, headed by Lieutenant Commander Aaron Mc Clellan, provide Coast Guardians with knowledge and skills on organizational development, incident management, and interagency coordination during emergencies.
Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Education and Training, CG-12, CG Captain Noemie Cayabyab, urged the students to make the most out of the training she referred to as an excellent platform for the PCG to have a common language and an organizational structure that can grow rapidly in response to the requirements during emergency situations by standardizing the approach to match the complexities and demands of single or multiple incidents.
CG Admiral Gavan commended the CG-12 for orchestrating the capacity-building initiative that commenced on 29 April and will run until 10 May 2024.
