The Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV) will collaborate with the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), a standard training institution for seafarers and maritime professionals, for personnel training.

This occurred after the productive meeting between CGDEV Commander, CG Commodore Romeo Pulido Jr, and NMP Executive Director Victor Del Rosario in Tacloban City on 30 April 2024.

The officials discussed the CGDEV-NMP partnership to further capacitate PCG personnel in the performance of their mandated functions on maritime security, maritime safety, maritime law enforcement, maritime search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.

The NMP also suggested specific training suitable for Coast Guardians to improve their efficiency at work.

After the meeting, the NMP provided PCG representatives with a tour, showcasing its modern simulators and technologically advanced equipment that provide students with real-life scenarios on board the vessel.
