Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, has lauded the successful humanitarian mission in Balabac and Mangsee Island, Palawan, from 21 to 27 April 2024.

Thousands of residents received free medical consultations and dental services. Hygiene kits, clean clothes, and medicines were also distributed to the beneficiaries.

The Coast Guard Civil Relations Service (CGCRS) and Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) supported the initiative, organized by the YWAM Ships Philippines. The organization brought doctors who are based abroad.

The BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) and BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) also augmented the humanitarian mission.

β€œWe recognize the valuable service of our Coast Guardians, especially the men and women of BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) and BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) who are currently deployed in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). These two vessels joined the mission to reach our kababayans and bring needed public service to far-flung communities,” CG Admiral Gavan said.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command, Rural Health Unit, Philippine National Police – Maritime Group, Philippine Marines, Balabac District Hospital, and local government units also contributed to the success of the humanitarian mission.
