The Philippine Coast Guard Station Northern Negros Occidental (CGS NNOC) activated its Deployable Response Group (DRG) and conducted Rescue and Evacuation Operations in flooded areas in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental from 13 to 14 September 2024.
Equipped with life-saving gear and a rubber boat, the team managed to save residents from flooded barangays caused by the South West Monsoon's continuous downpour, which was intensified by Tropical Storm "Bebinca."
According to combined reports from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), 1,206 people were saved from Barangay Alijis, Barangay Handumanan, Barangay Sum-ag, Barangay Pahanocoy, Barangay Cabug, Barangay Taculing, Barangay Singcang, and Barangay Punta Taytay were taken to several evacuation shelters and given minimal supplies.
Said Station is still conducting ongoing operations and monitoring efforts to ensure the safety of affected communities.
