The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued three fishermen on board a capsized motorbanca in the vicinity waters of Barangay Bayas Island, Estancia, Iloilo, yesterday, 19 September 2024.

Investigation revealed that their motorbanca, identified as M/banca Neneng Jed, encountered strong winds and big waves due to the southwest monsoon, causing it to capsize.

After receiving the report, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Estancia activated its Deployable Response Team (DRT). Together with the Special Operations Unit (SOU) Northern Iloilo, they proceeded to the area onboard M/banca Aliah Diel to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation.

The team safely transferred the three fishermen, who were all in good physical condition, to M/banca Aliah Diel. They also towed the distressed motorbanca towards the shoreline of Estancia, Iloilo.

The rescued fishermen received several kilos of rice from the CGSS Estancia before returning home.
