The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has turned over the physical custody of seven Chinese nationals to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention facility in Manila on 20 September, 2024.

In addition to the initial charges, further cases have been filed during the inquest and preliminary investigation at the BI. These include violations of CA 613 Section 37 A (7), which pertains to the unlawful entry of foreign nationals, and Act 2711 Section 69, related to the general provisions for immigration offenses.

This recent development adds to two prior cases filed by Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS) to the Navotas City Prosecutor's Office on September 17, 2024.

The BI will take custody of the seven Chinese nationals, who will remain detained while legal proceedings are ongoing. The CGIDMS will maintain joint custody when directed by the Regional Trial Court of Navotas, ensuring that all legal protocols are followed throughout the process.
