Department of Transportation - Philippines (DOTr) Secretary Vivencio Dizon led the donning and oath-taking ceremony of the first-ever female Rear Admiral of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday, 31 March 2025.
President Ferdinand βBongbongβ Marcos Jr approved the promotion of the then Commodore Silva-Campo to the next higher rank of Rear Admiral on 25 March 2025 which occurred amid the celebration of the National Womenβs Month.
Subsequently, PCG has rendered an arrival honor and breaking of personal flag ceremonies to the first female Rear Admiral β Rear Admiral Mitzie Silva-Campo PCG β at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, graced the event.
βI am proud to announce that Rear Admiral Silva-Campo is the first female general line officer to attain the rank of Rear Admiral in the Philippine Coast Guard," Admiral Gavan shared.
βYour accomplishments remind us that leadership is not defined by barriers, but by the ability to serve with distinction and purpose,β he furthered.
For her part, the Coast Guard Internal Audit Commander reminisced her decades of public service, emphasizing how she was able to build strength and resilience amid challenges which allowed her to serve as an inspiration to fellow women in the uniformed service.
βThis rank is not just a promotion β it is a platform, a calling, and a legacy. As I move forward, my mission remains: to serve with integrity, to lead with courage, and to inspire with purpose,β she highlighted.
