The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted a medical evacuation (medevac) for one of the crew members of a Liberian-flagged bulk carrier, MV Bulk Tirreno on 15 March 2025.

At around 9AM on 15 March, BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403) received a phone call from Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) informing that an injured crew needs a medical evacuation.

Immediately, MRRV-4403 deployed a medevac team that proceeded to the rendezvous area located in the vicinity waters off Bancao, Palawan.

Upon arriving at the said vicinity, the medical team received Mr. Roldan Dementoy Celo, a Filipino crew member of MV Bulk Tirreno with an amputated and necrotic left-hand wound from a mooring winch accident.

After the transfer of the injured crew, medical personnel onboard MRRV-4403 provided medical assistance to the patient.

Upon arrival at the port, the patient was transferred to CGDPAL ambulance and brought to the nearest hospital for proper medication.

According to the CGDPAL the Philippine Coast Guard remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of seafarers navigating Philippine waters.
