The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) aided a Chinese national who sustained a finger laceration due to accident while onboard cargo vessel MV Voy Trust, a Hongkong registered vessel, in the vicinity waters off Basilan Strait, on 18 March 2025.

The National Maritime Center received the vessel’s request for medical evacuation as it transited near Zamboanga City.

In response, Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) deployed BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) to execute the operation.

Upon arrival at Ben Go Wharf, Zamboanga City, Coast Guard Medical Clinic-Southwestern Mindanao personnel immediately attended to the injured crew member by cleaning his wound, monitoring his vital signs, and transferring him to a land vehicle that ferried him to Brent Hospital and Colleges Incorporated, R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City.

The Chinese national was then turned over to the vessel’s local agent, Mr. Albert Abanilla, for further assistance.
