The PHILIPPINE MILITARY ACADEMY (PMA) rendered a testimonial parade and review in honor of Coast Guard Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) Commander, Vice Admiral Joseph Macellones Coyme PCG, in Baguio City, on 28 June 2025.Vice Admiral Coymeβs journey pursued the vision of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr. for Coast Guard personnel to become efficient public servants.
The 28th MSSC Commander is a proud member of the PMA "Bantay-Laya" Class of 1994. He pursued further studies and obtained his Master of Shipping Business Management (MSBM) degree from the Graduate School of Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), and is currently taking Doctor of Philosophy in Development Administration Major in Public Governance at the Philippine Christian University.
Throughout his Coast Guard career, Vice Admiral Coyme has served various significant positions, such as Commander of the Human Resource Management Command (HRMC), Commander of the CG Ready Force (now known as CG Fleet), Commander of CG District Northwestern Luzon (NWLZN) and CG District Southwestern Mindanao (SWM), and Station Commander of CGS Mapun, CGS Pagadian, and CGS Cotabato.
He was also designated as the Commander of the CG Public Information Office (CGPIO) and the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Personnel (CG-1). He also completed his Command-at-Sea onboard three (3) CG vessels, namely MCS 3004, BRP Romblon (SARV 3503), and BRP EDSA (SARV 002).
He is happily married to Dra. Aida F. Coyme and a proud father to Joseph Anthony Coyme, a nursing student at Ateneo De Zamboanga.
Vice Admiral Coyme will formally retire after 35 years of remarkable public service on 14 July 2025.
