Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station in Buenavista rescued 36 passengers and 4 crew members of a distressed motorbanca approximately 300 meters away from Mc Arthur Wharf in Buenavista, Guimaras on 02 January 2020.

Motorbanca "Napali Cristy" departed from Parola Wharf, Iloilo going to Mc Arthur Wharf Barangay Sto. Rosario, Buenavista, Guimaras.

Initial investigation revealed that the engine trouble is caused by the motorbanca's malfunctioned gear shifter. The motorman tried to fix the defect, but yielded negative result.

The rescued passengers and crew members were brought back to Mc Arthur Wharf in good physical condition.

PCG personnel advised the boat captain to file a marine protest and a certificate of sea worthiness prior resumption of trip.
