BRP TUBATTAHA (MRRV 4401) successfully conducted medical evacuation to the ailing Filipino crew onboard M/V Quantum of the Seas along the vicinity waters off Manila Bay today, 08 March 2020 at around 04:43 a.m.

Said vessel requested immediate assistance for 26-year old Francis Lie Bonzato, Filipino engine cadet, who had second degree burn with his left arm and right leg, causing almost 25% damage on his body.

The rescue team immediately brought Bonzato to the Manila Doctor's Hospital for immediate medical attention.

As of 09:00 a.m., Bonzato was declared stable.

Investigation about the cause of the incident is ongoing.

According to the victim, the steam from the boiler exploded while he was refilling chemical.

Fortunately, he was able to escape the area and sought help from his fellow crew members.
