Personnel of BRP Malamawi (FPB 2403) apprehended seven crew members of an illegal fishing boat during an intensified maritime patrol at the vicinity waters of Basilan Strait, Zamboanga Peninsula on 25 March 2020.

Aside from violating the directive concerning the prohibition of all land, air, and sea travels to Zamboanga Peninsula since 17 March 2020 as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 threat, FB Jordan-7 was found also with no display of boat’s name and Safety, Security, and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System marking.

Moreover, its pertinent documents including the National Telecommunication Center license, commercial fishing vessel license, certificate of clearance, and fishing vessel safety certificate were all expired. It also failed to possess a tonnage measurement certificate, safety certificate, and Master Declaration of Safe Departure.

FB Jordan-7 departed from Sangali, Zamboanga City going to Kawit Drydock, Zamboanga City for needed repairs.

The crew was brought to the Coast Guard Sub-Station in Kawit, Zamboanga City for proper disposition and adjudication.
