The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) participated in the arrest of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member, Munjiral Kabole in Saluping Island, Basilan at around 04:45 a.m. last 20 November 2020.
In coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the PCG boarded BRP Bagacay (MRRV-4410) to conduct joint law enforcement operation against Kabole through warrant of arrest for the crimes of kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
Also recovered during the arrest were one hand grenade, Cal .45 pistol with magazine inserted loaded with seven live ammunitions, and another magazine loaded with seven live ammunitions.
Kabole is one of the ASG members who abducted Hja Sadday Jalal at Barangay Kaum-Air, Sumisip, Basilan in 2009. He is known to be operating under the leadership of ASG Sub-Leader, Pasil Bayali who is involved in series of harrassment among members of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the province.
The joint law enforcement operation team was made successful with the cooperation of the Coast Guard Intelligence Group - South Western Mindanao, PCG - Special Operation Unit, BRP Bagacay (MRRV-4410), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 9, Regional Intelligence Unit 9 - PNP Intelligence Group, PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group - Mindanao Field Unit Region 9,Β PNP Special Action Force, Reginal Intelligence Division - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, and Tabuan-Lasa Municipal Police Station among others.
