The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) have reaffirmed their commitment to stronger ties in capacity building and regional partnership in a year-end virtual meeting held today, 17 December 2020.
PCG Commandant, Admiral George V Ursabia Jr expressed his gratitude for the steady support of the USCG, specifically in further developing the skills and abilities of Coast Guard officers and personnel through the provision of technical experts who conduct lectures and workshops on maritime operations and equipment readiness, and the accommodation of PCG men and women in the United States during their training abroad.
For his part, USCG Commandant, Admiral Karl L Schultz assured Admiral Ursabia that they will continue to pursue opportunities towards the expansion and modernization of the PCG to better serve God, the country, and the Filipino people.
During the meeting, Admiral Schultz also commended PCG frontline personnel for their outstanding humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic and recent typhoons in the Philippines.
