PCG: Commander of the Philippine Coast Guardβs Special Operations Force, and alumnus of the program on Terrorism and Security Studies Class 2014-01, Captain Edgardo T Hernando PCG was invited to be one of resource speakers during the three-day global counterterrorism workshop in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany last January 23 to 25.
This year's global counterterrorism workshop centered on the detection, deterrence and detainment of terrorist crossing international borders.
In a video released by the said institute, the Program Director on the Program on Terrorism and Security Studies, retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jim Howcroft, discussed and emphasized that proper border security and management against terrorist travel must be part of every nationβs counterterrorism strategy.
The workshop was conducted by the George C Marshall European Center for Security Studies which offers graduate-level resident programs to military and civilian government officials from around the world.
The mission of the Marshall Center is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships.
