PCG: Four Philippine Coast Guard bobsledders took their flight today to their training homebase in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in preparation for the upcoming Alberta Cup Provincial Championship scheduled at the end of February this year.
Team 1 bobsled driver Seaman First Class Rolando D Isidro Jr and brakeman Seaman First Class Jerby D Deriada, and Team 2 driver Seaman First Jeffrey G Dela Cruz and brakeman Seaman First Class Joseph M Acosta composed the two, two-man bobsled teams of the Philippine National Bobsled Luge and Skeleton Association Inc. (PNBLSA), the first bobsled team in Southeast Asia with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Beijing winter Olympics in 2022.

These personnel are assigned at Coast Guard Special Service Office and former members of the PCG Dragon Boat Team.
Bobsleigh is a winter sport wherein two or four individuals per team drives a sled down an ice track completing the route in the shortest period of time.
The PNBLSA is entering into a strategic partnership with the Alberta Bobsleigh Association (ABA) for the training of the Filipino bobsledders and making Calgary as the team's permanent home base.
