The Philippine Coast Guard rendered an Arrival Honors to the 12 Captains who were promoted in the next higher rank of Commodore as they first set foot in the National Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard after their Oath-Taking Ceremony with the Secretary of Department of Transportation Arthur P Tugade at DOTr Clark Office in Angeles, Pampanga today, 18 February.
Among the promotees are Commo Normando D Reyes PCG, Acting Commander of Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon; Commo Artemio M Abu PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Southern Tagalog; Commo Rolando Lizor N Punzalan Jr PCG, Acting Commander of CG Logistics Command; Commo Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Central Visayas; Commo Roy A Echeverria PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Southeastern Mindanao; Commo Allan Victor T Dela Vega PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Southern Visayas; Commo Gregorio I Adel PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Northern Mindanao; Commo Joey Damaso D Velarde PCG, Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Intelligence, CG-2; Commo Daryl G Vargas PCG, Acting Commander of Coast Guard District Bicol; Commo Juan Manuel DF Ramos Jr PCG, DCS for Comptrollership, CG-6; Commo Joseph M Coyme PCG; Acting Commander of CGD Southwestern Mindanao; and Commo Edgar B Boado PCG, Acting Commander of CGD Eastern Visayas.
Most of the newly promoted Commodores are graduates of Philippine Military Academy of different classes respectively: Commo Reyes of Cl 1990; Commo Abu, Commo Punzalan and Commo Ramos of Cl 1992; Commo Gavan, Commo Echeverria, and Commo Dela Vega of Cl 1993; and Commo Coyme of Cl 1994.
Meanwhile, some of them are graduates of Naval Officer Qualification Course from respective batches: Commo Boado of 1989; Commo Adel and Commo Velarde of 1991; and Commo Vargas of 1993.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed the promotion of the 12 PCG Commodores last February 4.
