PCG: Elements from Philippine Coast Guard responded to fire incident that transpired at Brgy 23-C, Isla Verde, Davao City yesterday, February 20.

The Deck Petty Officer of the Watch of Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) sighted the smoke coming from the shoreline of the said barangay and immediately called the Davao Central 911. The personnel was advised by the latter that the Bureau of Fire Protection was already on scene combating the fire. Meanwhile, BRP Cape San Agustin personnel launched its Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat with complete firefighting protective equipment and proceeded to the area to render necessary assistance.

Upon arrival thereat, MRRV-4408 firefighting team started to combat the fire with the BFP and Davao Central 911 while the Coast Guard Station Davao and Special Operation Unit-South Eastern Mindanao evacuated and brought the residents to a safer location.

After three hours of firefighting, the Bureau of Fire Protection declared fire out in the area.

The BFP is still investigating the possible cause of the said incident.
