PCG: Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Elson E Hermogino today, February 26, 2019 directed all PCG units nationwide to further intensify monitoring of coastal communities in view of the 39 recovered bricks of cocaine in Davao.

On 24 February, 36 bricks of cocaine were discovered by the joint team of Coast Guard Sub-Station Baganga and Caraga police along the shoreline of Barangay Santiago, Caraga, Davao Oriental.

On 25 February, additional three bricks of cocaine were discovered during the follow-up joint seaborne and shoreline patrol conducted by CGSS Baganga, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and Barangay Officials, summing up to 39 cocaine bricks.

According to the report, the team discovered the three bricks partly covered by coconut husk along the shoreline of the said barangay.

Immediately, the team called the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Caraga Police Station for proper disposition and confirmation test of the recovered items.
