An oil spill incident at Davao Packaging Corporation (DAPACOR) compound near Ising River, Carmen Davao del Norte approximately 10,000 liters of blended fuel was reported to the Philippine Coast Guard yesterday, March 06.
Immediately, Marine Environmental Protection Unit personnel were sent to the incident site to verify and contain the oil spill.
Upon arrival, the oil was already spilling in the river and the management of DAPACOR has initially responded to the incident. Meanwhile, PCG personnel laid down two oil spill boom to contain the oil from spreading.
In an update submitted to PCG today, the team was able to collect 10 drums of oil. Recovery will continue today.
