In celebration of an iconic fashion doll's 60th anniversary, nine Filipina women were awarded for empowering women in the country for the accomplishments in their various chosen fields and inspiring women of all ages that possibilities are endless whatever they want to achieve.
The event was held at The Block Atrium, SM North EDSA in Quezon City yesterday, 09 March.
Among the awardees is Philippine Coast Guard's (PCG) pride, Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) Carina G Dayondon for inspiring women in the field of mountaineering and sports being the first Filipina to conquer the highest mountains in the seven continents of the world.
Among other inspiring women awarded in the event by Richprime Global, Mattel South East Asia and the SM City North EDSA were Alice Eduardo, President & CEO of Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation; Charo Santos-Concio, Media Executive & Actress; Victoria Gonzales Belo-Kho, Medical Director of the Belo Medical Group; Maria Laarni Lopez Cayetano, Mayor of Taguig City; Cynthia Aguilar Villar, Senator; Josefina C Sincioco, President & CEO of Chef Jessie Restaurants; ArmieJarin-Benneth; President of Nine Media Corporation and owner of CNN Philippines; and Joanne Rae M Ramirez, Editor-in-Chief of PeopleAsia Magazine.
LTJG Dayondon who conquered Mount Vinson Massif in Antartica, her last of the Seven Summits climbed last 16 December 2018 left a message before the crowd that climbing mountains and crossing vast seas give everyone opportunities to conquer own self-doubts and fears and to go beyond self-limits. As mountaineers and adventurers, never aim to conquer the power and might of Mother Nature. Instead, go there to enjoy its beauty, pay respect, give care and help to preserve it. Kaya ng Pinay!
"As a Filipina, let us continue to demonstrate whatever platform you have as a doctor, as an engineer, as an adventurer, as an athlete. We, Filipinas are no less achiever than any other female in the world", LTJG Dayondon said during her speech.
The iconic fashion doll was manufactured in 1959 has been inspiring Filipina women as it was introduced in the Philippines in 1982.
