PCG: Coast Guard operatives intercepted the 60 bundles of used clothing known as “ukay-ukay” with estimated market value of P360,000.00 onboard MV Trans Asia 19 at port of Cagayan de Oro City yesterday, March 21.

While conducting Sewage Treatment Plant inspection to the vessels in Cagayan Port, Coast Guard Station Misamis Oriental and Marine Environmental Protection Unit-Northern Mindanao received an intelligence report that a certain passenger/cargo vessel Trans Asia 19 is loaded with suspicious cargoes. The team then verified the report which yielded to positive result. They identified the cargoes as used clothing locally known as “ukay-ukay” and eventually intercepted the cargoes which will be transported to Tagbilaran City.

Immediate coordination was then made with the Bureau of Customs and found out that the cargoes lack pertinent custom papers and permit to transport.

The seized items were hauled by the PCG from CDO Port and were turned-over to BOC-10 office for proper disposition.
