The Philippine Coast Guard rendered a Testimonial Parade and Review in honor of Rear Admiral Athelo L Ybañez, as he retires in the Coast Guard service effective today, March 28 at Coast Guard Surface Support Force in Pier 13, Port Area Manila.

RADM Ybañez is a proud member of Philippine Military Academy “MAHARLIKA” Class of 1984 and served in the Coast Guard Service for 35 years as an intelligence operative, staff secretary, sailor, educator, station commander, and human resource manager. He hails from Bantayan Island in Cebu, a loving father to his daughter Marie Athena and a good husband to his wife Mary Ann Castaños Ybañez.

He was designated as Acting Commander, CGIAS last December 07, 2018. He also commanded major units of the PCG such as Coast Guard District Northern Luzon, Coast Guard District Western Visayas, and Maritime Security & Law Enforcement Command.
