PCG: Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) together with the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Nasipit arrested a passenger for transporting live ammunitions at Nasipit Port, Barangay Talisay, Agusan del Norte last April 18.
The suspect identified as Faron Rey Bancure was apprehended for violating the nationwide election gun ban which was imposed since January 13 this year in line with the May 2019 midterm elections.
About 10 pieces of Caliber 45 and eight pieces of live ammunitions of Caliber 38 were carried by Bancure who was supposed to board a passenger-cargo vessel, MV Lite Ferry 10 bound to Jagna, Bohol.
While Bancure was on the boarding area, PPA personnel positively noticed the ammunitions at the X-ray machine.
Subsequently, the Philippine Ports Authority personnel immediately coordinated with the PCG and PNP that were on duty at the DoTR Malasakit Help Desk. Bancure's belonging was inspected and frisked by the Coast Guard K9 personnel to ensure that it was properly sanitized.
According to the report received, the ammunitions were transported from Panabo, Davao del Norte and to be delivered in Tagbilaran, Bohol province.
The ammunitions were the turned over to the local police of Nasipit for proper dispostion while the suspect will be subjected for further investigation.
