PCG: Six passengers were rescued by the Coast Guard Sub-Station Boracay Deployable Response Group (DRG) off Aklan waters yesterday, May 09.
Information was received through a cellphone call from Barangay Kagawad Lopez Manongol, of Sibolo Island, Caluya, Antique about the incident.
The rescued passengers were Jerry Vicente, 23 years old (skipper); Victor Domingo, 22 years old;Ivan Magcalay, 32 years old; Evelyn Domingo, 27 years old; and two minors, all residents of Sibolo Island, Caluya, Antique.
The passengers utilized the fishing banca “Damafe” to fetch their relatives in Carabao Island, San Jose Romblon. While navigating back to Sibolo Island, the fishing banca encountered engine trouble which resulted it to be dead on water.
The rescued passengers were in good physical condition and decided to repair their fishing banca before returning home.
