Personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Hilongos rescued 108 passengers onboard distressed motorbanca “Sea Runner” who went dead on water while enroute from Ubay, Bohol to Hilongos Leyte last Tuesday, 14 May 2019.

The information was received through a cellphone call from the personnel-in-charge of the ticketing office onboard the motorbanca.

CGSS Hilongos immediately proceeded to the area and conducted search and rescue operations. The team successfully rescued 108 passengers and retrieved six motorcycles onboard the banca.

Investigation revealed that while motorbanca “Sea Runner” is transversing to Hilongos, Leyte, the boat Captain noticed that one leaf of their propeller was detached and lost which resulted them to be dead on water.

Subsequently, the distressed motorbanca was successfully towed and docked safely at Port of Hilongos, Leyte.
