WESTERN VISAYAS, Philippines (10 June 2019) – Personnel of PCG’s Multi Role Response Vessel (MRRV) Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411) successfully conducted a medical evacuation at vicinity waters of Antique to an ailing crew of a bulk carrier yesterday, June 09.

Said crew member named Mr. Eric Joseph Carcusia, a 32-year-old resident of Naic, Cavite was suffering from a lower abdominal pain while onboard foreign vessel, MV “Cape Reliance”.

The incident was reported to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Antique through phone call from Captain Superable, Master of the said foreign vessel. Upon coordination of CGS Antique and Coast Guard District Western Visayas, MRRV 4411 was immediately directed to proceed to the incident area to render assistance and dispatched PCG’s Medical Team to give initial medical care upon returning of MRRV 4411 to Muelle Lone Wharf, Iloilo City.

In addition, an earlier coordination was also made with the Iloilo City Emergency Response Team (ICERT) for the transportation of Carcusia via an ambulance to Iloilo Doctors Hospital for further medical attention.
