SURIGAO DEL NORTE, Philippines (10 June 2019) - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is reminding all the beach and resort-goers to exercise safety caution and do not leave children unattended as unaccompanied child drowned in the pool was successfully revived by a Coast Guard personnel at the Farm Hill Garden Resort in Mainit, Surigao del Norte last Sunday, June 02.
Reports reaching the PCG Command Center in Manila revealed that the victim, a six year old girl and resident of Canlanipa, Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte was seen by a resort guest drowning and pulled her out from the water. The victim was reportedly with no pulse, unconscious and with no signs of breathing. Volunteers and the resortβs duty lifeguard tried to resuscitate the victim but yielded negative results.
Seaman First Class (SN1) Roy Christopher R Orillaneda PCG (wearing black sando as shown in photos), assigned at Coast Guard Station Surigao Del Norte was on his academic break and went to spend quality time with his family at the said resort when the incident transpired. Orillaneda conducted cardio pulmonary resuscitation, and advised the resort management to call for an ambulance. After continuous compressions and resuscitations, the victim was eventually revived to life.
The victim was then properly turned over to her family and were advised to be very keen with the safety of their family members especially during family outings and similar occasions.
Meanwhile, PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino has commended the heroic acts of the said personnel and further encouraged other men and women of the Coast Guard to always set a good example to others and to have the heart of a true volunteer rescuer at all times.
SN1 Orillaneda PCG is a resident of Surigao City and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He was also a former ambulance crew of the Quick Action Response Team of Surigao City presently known as Emergency Response Services of City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in Surigao City Rescue for more than three years prior joining the PCG service.
