CALBAYOG, SAMAR, Philippines (30 June 2019)- A total of 20 passengers and six crew of motorbanca “G.I Transport Service” were successfully rescued along vicinity waters of Kamandag , Sto Niño in Samar last June 28.

The Search and Rescue (SAR) Team of Coast Guard Sub-Station Calbayog proceeded to the area after receiving a report regarding a submerged motorbanca. Upon arrival thereat, the passengers and crew were already rescued by fishing bancas “Three Prince” and M/V “Lite Ferry 26”.

Accordingly, motorbanca “G.I Transport Service” departed from Calbayog Port enroute to Almagro, Western Samar but was battered by strong winds and big waves that resulted it to partially submerge.

SAR Team together with Coast Guard K9 Unit rendered medical assistance to passengers and crew upon arrival at Calbayog Port and found all of them to be in good physical condition.
