TRACEN YORKTOWN, USA (02 September 2019) Three Coast Guard non-officers namely Petty Officer Third Class Mark Joseph Gayol, Seaman First Class Alvin Castro and Seawoman First Class Dallen Del Rosario graduated Machinery Technician’s “A” School Course at Tracen Yorktown, USCG Training Center,Virginia, USA last August 30, 2019.
The course is part of the continuous program of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INC) of the US Embassy Manila in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and PCG to send qualified PCG students to join USCG Enlisted personnel as they take A-School to determine their chosen career paths.
The program started on September 2017, which composed of 24 students (21 from the USCG and three International students from PCG).
The 13-week training allows the participants to be fully equipped and knowledgeable in operation maintenance, and repair of machinery such as hand and machine tools, piping, tubing, flex hose, leadership, basic administration, hydraulics, internal combustion engine, lubrication system, cooling system, fuel system, diesel engine overhaul, basic electricity and electrical equipment, auxiliary machinery, refrigeration, clutches gears, shafting, boat trailers, and outboard engines.
It was designed for every Coast Guard personnel in preparation to become instructors of Machinery Technician in their future career. It also provides opportunity for the participants to be more effective and proficient in engineering department.
