The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 10 passengers and three (3) crew members of a motorbanca that encountered engine trouble off Masbate waters, specifically between Camotes and Danao, on 27 December 2019.

PCG Station in Danao, Masbate conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations but due to strong winds, they returned to Danao Port and proceeded to Compostela Port to seek SAR assistance from tug boat, MTUG WANKEL.

Investigation results revealed that the motorbanca identified as "J and J Liner" departed from Olango Island enroute to Camotes Island when its rudder was detached due to heavy weather condition.

The passengers and crew members, who were all in good physical condition, were brought to Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City, Cebu for further assistance and necessary investigation.
