PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in joint operations with Philippine National Police- Maritime Group (PNP-MARIG), Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Philippine Red Cross (PRC) deployed assets and personnel at the vicinity waters of Manila Bay (at the back of Quirino Grandstand), Jones Bridge and McArthur Bridge along Pasig River to ensure the safety of the devotees during the Feast of Black Nazarene from 07 to 10 January 2018.

For this year’s Traslacion covering 5.9 kilometers, the PCG detailed eight Deployable Response Teams from different PCG Units such as Headquarters Support Group, Marine Environmental Protection Command, Coast Guard Education and Training Command, Coast Guard Maritime Weapons, Communications, Electronics, and Information System Services, Maritime Safety Services Command, Coast Guard Surface Support Force, Special Operations Force, and Coast Guard Aviation Force, all ready for immediate response to any possible incident during the procession.

Alongside, Maritime Task Groups including Sub-Task Group Manila and Pasig were created to intensify seaborne/shore patrols and surveillance of suspicious water crafts within the vicinity using floating assets to include small crafts, aluminum boats, Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs), rubber boats, utility boats, ferryboats, and plastic boats from PCG, PNP-MARIG, PCGA, MMDA, and PRC.

The PCG K9 units are scheduled to conduct paneling at Ayala, Quezon, McArthur, and Jones Bridges. Whereas, conduct of clearing operations of Jones and Mc Arthur Bridges for the informal settlers and improvised hanging rope ladders were implemented prior to the prepositioning of different assigned task units.

Likewise, Special Operations Unit and Coast Guard Medical personnel are on standby to render water rescue and medical assistance, respectively.

Meanwhile, the PCG also implemented "No Sail Zone” along Pasig River and portion of Manila Bay which started yesterday, January 7.
