PCG: Deployable Response Team (DRT) from Coast Guard Sub-station Boracay conducted medical evacuation on a wounded American national onboard yacht “Chel Sea” identified to be Mr. Greg Ropper at vicinity waters off Boracay Island, Malay Aklan last Sunday, February 04.

According to the reports, yacht “Chel Sea” departed Gigantes Island, Estancia/Carles, Iloilo enroute to Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan with three persons onboard. While on anchor, the chain of the yacht stocked up to its anchor house and accidentally broke up. Subsequently, other parts of the anchor chain accidentally struck the legs of the patient.

Immediately, the DRT departed Caticlan Jetty Port and proceed to the reported site. However, the patient was not immediately transferred to the sea ambulance due to rough sea condition. Instead, said sea ambulance guided the yacht to Caticlan Jetty Port Brgy.Caticlan, Malay, Aklan where the patient was subsequently disembarked and transported to Caticlan Baptist Hospital for proper medical treatment.
