PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard Sub-station Sindangan confiscated marine species called "devil rays" at vicinity waters off Malintubuan, Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte last Tuesday, March 13.

The team was conducting a seaborne patrol when they spotted two men onboard an unregistered motor banca towing the devil rays along the shoreline.

As the team is approaching the motor banca, the suspects quickly run away.

The team confiscated eight pieces of devil rays with estimated width of 1.5 meters weighing 30 kgs each. Devil rays, are cartilaginous fishes found in tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate waters. It has a classic manta ray body shape featuring a broad head with an enormous wide mouth flanked by two broad, flexible, fleshy lobes.

They subsequently turned over the confiscated devil rays to the Municipal Agriculturist of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte for proper disposition.
