PCG: Three (3) persons were successfully rescued by the crew of a passing tugboat after their motor banca was hit by strong waves while transiting the vicinity waters between Bohol and Camiguin Island last 19 March.
Reports received by the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bohol that the skipper of M/Tug Atria revealed that they sighted the three victims floating using empty gallons and bamboo pieces while they were underway from Jagna Bohol enroute to Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and immediately conducted rescue operations.
The rescued victims were identified as Mr. Ascale A. Melcarane 60 years old, father, Jisseca K. Melcarane 12 years old, daughter, and Yara K Mealcarane, daughter all residents of Brgy Canlipa, Surigao City.
Upon arrival in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, personnel of CGSSΒ Tagoloan rendered necessary assistance to the rescued victims and ferried them to CGS Cagayan De Oro wherein they were given medicalΒ attention.
Further information revealed that Mr. Melcarane together with his family lelf Bato, Leyte enroute to Surigao City on 16 March 2018 when they were struck by strong waves that caused their motor banca to capsize.
Meanwhile, the rescued persons are now under custody of CGS Cagayan De Oro in good physical condition.
