PCG: Maritime Law Enforcement (MARLEN) Team of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Masbate together with Military Intelligence Company (MICO) apprehended a fishing boat “Bherry-B” with 28 crew onboard at the vicinity waters of Zapata Mayor Island and Jintotolo Island, Balud Masbate yesterday, April 24.

Said fishing boat was caught conducting illegal fishing using fine mesh net with active gear locally known as “Zipper”.

The team boarded the fishing boat and informed the skipper of their offense under Republic Act 8550 as amended by Republic Act 10654 also known as “An Act To Prevent, Deter And Eliminate Illegal, Unreported And Unregulated Fishing”. The team also found no pertinent documents relative to the fishing boat during the inspection and issued Maritime Violation Receipt (MVR) for the following violations:

1.         No Pertinent Documents Onboard

2.         No Boat Captain License

3.         No Marine Diesel Mechanic License

The team safely arrived at Masbate Port, Masbate City together with the crew of the fishing boat for proper documentation and filing of case.
