PCG: Elements of Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Jose together with Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) and Maritime Safety Administration (MARSAD) students of Class 28-17 successfully rescued 24 passengers onboard motorized banca β€œAlto Jay” which encountered engine trouble at the vicinity waters off 500 meters Northwest of Barangay Pawican, Ilin, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro yesterday, May 31.

Information received from a concerned citizen revealed that said motor banca which departed from Sea Breeze, Barangay Pag-asa, San Jose encountered engine trouble while enroute to Sibay, Caluya, Antique Occidental Mindoro

Immediately, personnel of CGS San Jose conduct search and rescue operations at the said vicinity. The SAR team spotted the distressed motor banca and rescued all the passengers onboard.

Reports from Captain Mr Carlito Amarila, skipper of Mbca Alto Jay disclosed that while transiting at the said vicinity waters, the engine suddenly stopped due to engine overheating. Amarila tried to fix the trouble but no avail.

The rescued passengers were all in good physical condition and safely brought to the shoreline of Barangay Caminawit. The team also towed the distressed motor banca to the nearest shoreline.
