Members of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay together with Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned at Cagban Port successfully rescued the twenty eight (28) passengers after motor banca Carolan 888 ran aground at vicinity waters more or less 50 meters away from Cagban Port, Brgy Manoc-manoc, Boracay Island, Malay. Aklan last Saturday, June 2.

Investigation revealed by the skipper of the motor banca, Mr Joseph U Anota, that while on docking maneuvering at approximately 50 meters away from the shoreline of Cagban Jetty Port, they encountered big waves and strong winds which cause the motor banca to drift and ran aground. A passing motor banca Mermaid 3 tried to tow her but wasn't able to rescue due to unfavourable weather condition prevailing at the said area.

CGSS Boracay and personnel of PNP assisted all passengers to swim to the shoreline of Cagban Port and fortunately, all passengers were rescued safely.

Thirteen (13) passengers were allowed to go home after ensuring that they are in good physical condition while the fifteen (15) other passengers were brought to Ciriaco Tirol Hospital for medical attention and were discharged after ensuring that they are all in good physical condition.

The owner of motor banca β€œCarolan 888” was further advised to file Marine Protest relative to the incident.
