PCG. Personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station Naval rescued three men onboard an unnamed half-submerged motor banca with Safety, Security and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) Nr EV-BIL-020317-071051 at approximately 30 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay SMO. Rosario, Naval Biliran yesterday, Β June 06.

The said sub-station immediately coordinated with the Naval Rescue Unit (NAVRU) for search and rescue operations and medical assistance of the distress victims.

The team successfully rescued the victims and towed the ill-fated motor banca to the shoreline of the said barangay.

According to the report, they departed Barangay Caneja, Calubian, Leyte enroute to Barangay SMO. Rosario, Naval Biliran but while transiting between Calubian, Leyte and Naval Biliran their motor banca was battered by strong wind and big waves and caused it to submerge.

The victims were identified as Rain Bautista, 26; Reynaldo Ramonida, 69; and William Guinto(boat captain), 33, all residents of Barangay Caneja, Calubian Leyte.

After the medical assistance given to the victims, the sub-station properly turned them over to their relatives residing at the said barangay in Biliran.
