PCG: A total of sixteen (16) persons were successfully rescued by Personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Surigao after an unidentified pumpboat encountered engine trouble at vicinity waters off Sabale Island between Brgy Zaragoza and Brgy Lisondra, Surigao City last Tuesday, 12 June.

A certain Mr. Dixon Gonzalez of Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Port Police informed CGS Surigao that an unidentified pumpboat encountered engine trouble at the said area. Upon receiving the reports, Quick Response Team (QRT) of CGS Surigao immediately proceeded to the area to verify the veracity of the said reports.

Upon arriving thereat, the team sighted the pump boat slowly moving forward. They immediately transferred all passengers to their rescue boat and subsequently towed the distressed motor pump boat enroute to Boulevard, Surigao City.

Master of motor pump boat disclosed that,while transiting at the vicinity waters off Sabale Island, between BrgyZaragosa and BrgyLisondra, Surigao City, the clutch lining burnt causing the motor pumpboat to run disorderly.

All passengers were allowed to go home after ensuring that they are all in good physical condition.
