Upon receiving the report, the team proceeded to the area where they immediately sighted the motorbanca drifting dead on water.

The team transferred the five passengers at Aluminum Boat-236 and ferried them to Mati Wharf, while the motorbanca with the crew onboard were towed to the nearest shoreline.

One of the passengers was recognized by the team to be Mr Jorge CariΓ±o, ABS-CBN Newscaster/Journalist, and the rest are members of his family. According to Mr CariΓ±o, he hired the motorbanca for an island tour to Pujada Island. However, while enroute to their destination, the motorbanca encountered engine trouble.
