One week after the PCG intercepted 46 units of caliber 45 pistol and apprehended three personalities in Samboan, Cebu, the PCG apprehended last Thursday evening, July 19, two persons suspected of illegally transporting 10 pieces of caliber 38 revolvers, four pieces of caliber 45 pistols with inserted magazines without ammunitions and five extra caliber 45 pistol magazines in Samar.

Captain Ronnie Gavan, Central Vizayas District Commander said that upon receipt of the report, joint operations was launched by Coast Guard Sub-Station Tinago together with Philippine National Police Maritime 7 and intercepted said persons inside a shuttle bus from Marabut Municipality, Samar onboard a passenger/cargo vessel, MV Joyful of Star of Roble Shipping bound for Ormoc, Leyte.

The suspects were arrested in violation of Section 28, Article V of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

They were turned over to local police for appropriate legal action.

Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino lauded the vigilance of PCG personnel in Cebu and directed all PCG units to continue intensifying its operations against lawless activities in all ports and harbours nationwide.
