The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced today the reorganization of its major units and district commanders nationwide.

PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino cited the professional and career advancement of the senior officers as the main reason for their reassignment.

Rear Admiral Leopoldo V Laroya assumed as Commander of Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) from Rear Admiral Joel S Garcia who was recently designated as the Deputy Commandant for Administration.

Rear Admiral Rolando Legaspi, Commander of Surface Support Force (SSF) and Coast Guard District National Capital Region- Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) turned over his duties to Commodore Joseph B Badajos for SSF and Captain Rolando Lizor N Punzalan Jr for the PCG District NCR-CL. Rear Admiral Legaspi is now the Deputy Commandant for Operations.

Commodore Leovigildo G Panopio was designated as the Acting Commander of Maritime Security and Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) based in Cavite, while Commodore Oscar G Endona was appointed as Commander of Coast Guard Education and Training Command (CGETC).

Commodore Allen T Toribio is now the new Acting Commander of Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL).

Also named in the reshuffle was Captain Rudyard M Somera who assumed as the Commander of Coast Guard Human Resource Management Service (CGHRMS).

Following officers also assumed as Acting Commander of their respective districts: Captain Normando D Reyes in Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon (CGDNWLN); Captain Artemio M Abu in Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL); Captain Ronnie Gil L Gavan in Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV); Captain Roy A Echeverria in Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM); Captain Allan Victor T Dela Vega in Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV); Captain Gregorio I Adel in Coast Guard Northern Mindanao (CGDNM); Captain Joseph M Coyme in Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM); Captain Giovanni G Bergantin in Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas (CGDEV) and Captain Rodolfo S Villajuan in Coast Guard Southern Visayas.

Meanwhile, Captain Allan O Corpuz assumed as the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Operations, CG-3 while Commander Jaybom J Calica was designated as Director of Coast Guard Action Center.
