PCG: Personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Carigara successfully rescued a female from drowning while having a swimming venture at vicinity of Port Area, Carigara, Leyte last July 12.

A certain Mr. Welfredo Alvarez, 21 years old, a resident of Brgy. Jugaban, Carigara appeared at said sub station and reported a drowning incident involving the victim identified as Ms. Marjorie Anne Gabines, 33 years old, who was together with her mother, Mrs. Rosalina Gabines, 52 years old, both residents of Brgy. Punong, Carigara.

Investigation revealed that Gabines and her mother were swept away to the deeper portion of the water due to strong current in the area. Her mother immediately sought help from people currently at the site of the incident but failed to render rescue due to strong current.

Immediately, CGSS Carigara Quick Response Team conducted search and rescue operations and successfully put Gabines into safety. After the rescue, the victim was given immediate medical assessment to check her health condition.
